PATRIOT FSA™ automatic monoblock system fills, stoppers and crimps unstable (tippy) vials at up to 60 per minute. All stations are mechanically synchronized. Its HEPA-filtered laminar flow provides a micro-environment suitable for parenteral products. The Patriot feeds vials from a tray system to a transporting starwheel which carries them to the filling nozzle bar for a bottom-up fill. Next, the stoppering station can provide partial insertion for lyophilization, or full stopper insertion. The vial then passes through a tempered glass barrier, which minimizes the broadcast of particulates generated by the crimping process, to the two rotary crimping edges that ensure a good closure and good finish of the aluminium seal. The stoppering and crimping steps are monitored by sensors to provide fail-safe confirmation of stopper presence and aluminum cap seal. Vials then exit the monoblock directly onto the tray system.
